Seeds of Trust and Love at Trinity Church
Father Javier Rivera’s Sermon on Compassion, Confidence, and Community
On November 2, the community of Trinity Church in Fort Worth gathered for a special Eucharist celebrating Día de los Muertos — a moving service honoring faith, memory, and cultural roots. The occasion was marked by a powerful sermon from Father Javier Rivera, whose message invited everyone to reflect on compassion, unity, and the call to serve one another with love.
With sincerity and depth, Father Javier asked the congregation to consider:
“How can I be the one who helps today? How can I bring faith, love, and understanding to those who feel afraid or left out?”
His sermon emphasized the importance of building a new kind of community: one grounded in trust, empathy, and accompaniment. He reminded everyone that beyond the barriers of culture, language, or background, we are all called to be signs of God’s love in the world: to give confidence, to walk alongside others, and to make faith visible through care and service.
Through this message, Father Javier shared the spirit behind El Jardín — a growing diocesan ministry that cultivates spaces for prayer, reflection, and belonging. Like a living garden, El Jardín continues to flourish across the Diocese of Texas, helping people root their faith in action and grow together in love.
The Día de los Muertos Eucharist at Trinity was filled with color, reverence, and a sense of connection across generations and cultures. Parishioners left inspired to continue planting seeds of trust and love — honoring both those who came before us and those who walk with us today.
